Kate Tucker works with a collage-like process, where singular artworks are built from many pieces that are combined through an interative process of arranging, layering and reworking. Tucker's approach emerged in response to the restrictions of traditional painting as a two-dimensional surface on a pre-stretched canvas. Rather than working with fixed dimensions, each artwork accumulates its form through a process of layering materials that shift the shape and content of the works as it progresses.
Tuckers is represented by Daine Singer in Melbourne/ Naarm and has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. Her work has been acknowledged in numerous art prizes. In 2024, Perimeter editions published 'A Community of Parts' a monograph on Tucker's evolution of practice over the last decade.
